August is Back-to-School, as well as Happiness Happens
Month. Both can go together when you have the tools to make it a great school year.
Sign up for a library card, then check our website at www.quitmanlibrary.org to access the TexShare
Databases that allow access to over 27,000 journals, over 171,000 eBooks, and
over 15 million images, videos, interactive resources, and loads of homework
help.
There is always something happening at the Quitman Public
Library. Join the Wood County Metal Detecting Club on first Mondays of each
month at 6:30 p.m. at the library’s Thurman Shamburger Community Room.
Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2
– 4 p.m. at the library. Students of all ages and skill levels are invited to
join this growing group. Classes are free.
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society invites family
researchers to meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the
library’s Shamburger Community Room.
Board Games for Teens group meet every other Wednesday from
1 – 4 p.m. in the library’s community room. Bring board games and snacks to
share. This group is organized by Homeschoolers – Wood County, Texas and is
designed for teens ages 13 – 19. Call 903-763-4191 to confirm game days.
David Worrall, a professional Bridge player and instructor,
is starting a team that will meet weekly at the library. Whether you are a
seasoned player or just a beginner, you will love this challenging and
enjoyable game. Stop by and sign up at the Quitman Public Library, 202 East

Boundless® apps for the latest eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming video.
The Quitman Public Library has been awarded a 2025 Texas
Book Festival library grant. recipient! With these funds, the library will be
adding bilingual books for children and the adults who read to them. Watch for new
books to arrive this fall.
Patron cards are available at no cost for those who provide photo
identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian must sign for
children ages 5 – 17. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6
p.m. Wi-Fi is available 24/7.
