The Quitman Public Library is a host site for the East Texas Food Bank “Summer Meals for Kids” program, for children 18 and younger, each Tuesday and Thursday at 11:30 a.m.  Stop by for a hot lunch and check out a great book! The Quitman Public Library is located at 202 East Goode St Quitman, TX. 
Money Camp for Children ages 5 - 13 years old is in full swing at Quitman Public Library.  Sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. until noon, and are taught by Martha Scroggins and Rebecca L. Crump. The camp runs until July 16th, 2015. Remaining topics are “History of Money”; Budget Blaster: “Needs vs. Wants”; “Saving like a Super Hero”; “Ready, Set, Goal.”  
Summer Reading 2015 “Every Hero Has a Story” will continue through the month of June, and young readers are encouraged to pick up their reading game card at the Quitman Public Library. Each Wednesday in June, from 2 – 4 p.m., there will be an activity.  This Wednesday, June 17th, we will recognize Flag Day and salute military heroes Airforce E-5 Staff Sergeant Greg Demko, and Army Sergeant James Saylor with activities in the library’s Thurman Shamburger Community Room.
Patron cards are for Wood County residents with photo identification.  A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.  Hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.  Visit our website at www.quitmanlibrary.org. Adult Services
Virginia Hoffpauir is offering free knitting and crochet instruction each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group.
GED® or General Educational Development preparatory class is on break at the Quitman Public Library, but it will be starting back up soon.  Contact Peggy Lustig at 903-589-6900 for class information.

Children’s Services
Beginning in July, Story Time will switch to Thursdays 2 – 3 p.m.  Join us July 2nd at 2 p.m. and enjoy an hour of stories and activities presented by Elizabeth Soutendijk and Lillian Gray. This week’s theme: “Being Stubborn.”

Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library will reconvene in September 2015. If you would like to join this active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library, contact Teresa Meeks at tameeks@etmc.org.

Money Camp for Children ages 5 - 13 years old begins on June 9th at Quitman Public Library.  Sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. until noon starting June 9th and ending on July 16th, 2015. Weekly topics are: Avengers: “Saving the Day”; “Learn to Earn”; “History of Money”; Budget Blaster: “Needs vrs. Wants”; “Saving Like a Super Hero”; “Ready, Set, Goal.”  The East Texas Food Bank “Summer Food Service Program” will provide HOT Lunches for the children at 11:30 am during the Money Camp session. The Quitman Public Library is located at 202 East Good St Quitman, TX.  If you would like to reserve a space for your child at the Money Camps, please call 903 589-6900.
Summer Reading 2015 “Every Hero Has a Story” will go on through the month of June, and young readers are encouraged to stop by and register and pick up their reading game card at the Quitman Public Library. Each Wednesday in June, from 2 – 4 p.m., there will be an activity.  This Wednesday, June 10th, join us at Gov. Jim Hogg City Park where the Quitman Fire Department will show us how to put out a pretend house fire.  Be prepared to get soaked! Volunteers from Glowing Hearts Ministries of Grand Prairie TX will help us make Super Hero masks.
The 2nd Friday Acoustical Music Jam is this Friday, June 12, 6 - 9 p.m.  Acoustic musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in, and listeners are always welcome. For more information, call 903-952-8305.
