Friends of the Quitman Public Library’s Spring Book Sale is planned for April 28 – May 1, 2026. The following donations are accepted during business hours: books, audiobooks, DVDs, puzzles, board games, computer games and software, music albums, tapes and CDs.

 

Regular hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The library will be closed for Easter Weekend on Friday, April 3, but will reopen on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

 

Discover a world of information during National Library Week, April 19 – 25, 2026. This is an annual celebration developed by the American Library Association highlighting the positive role libraries play in strengthening our communities. This year’s theme, “Find Your Joy,” is an invitation to visit the library and check out what we have to offer.

 

The Wood County TX Genealogical Society invites family researchers and historians to meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room. The next meeting is April 20, 2026. 

                                                        

 

Whyte Dove Writers’ Club, a distinctive group of local published authors, meets monthly on second Tuesdays from 6 – 8:30 p.m. This workshop is free and open to the public.

 


Earning a General Educational Development (GED) certificate is easier to navigate when you have a tutor available to guide you through the process.  A professionally trained tutor who specializes in math and essay writing is available at the library each Wednesday, 4 - 6 p.m. Contact saradelarosa@outlook.com, or just stop by during class hours.

 


QPL Knitting & Crochet Class regularly meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. at the library. Students of all ages and skill levels are invited to join this growing group.

 


Wood County Metal Detector Club, led by Jerry Tinney, meets on 1st Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room.
