The
Quitman Public Library will be closed Thursday, November 27 and Friday,
November 28, 2014, to celebrate Thanksgiving.
However, TexShare® Databases and OverDrive® services as well as Wi-Fi are
available 24/7.
At the
front desk is a holiday collection of books for pleasure reading, movies with a
holiday theme, and books with recipe and decorating ideas to make Christmas
extra special. Stop by and check out
what your library has to offer.
Patron
cards are available for those residents who can provide proof of residence in
Wood County and photo identification. A
guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.

Services
GED® or General Educational
Development preparatory class will not meet this week due to the Thanksgiving
holiday. The class is normally held at
the Quitman Public Library each Thursday from 4:30 – 6 p.m. and is taught by a certified
instructor. Students are taught
independently according to a individually designed study plan, and all
materials are free. Sign up at the library’s

Board
The Library Advisory Board will hold its
next meeting on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 6 p.m. The public is always welcome.
Children’s
Services
Story Time Hour is each Wednesday 2
- 3 p.m. and runs concurrently with the QISD calendar. Nichole Bradberry, Lillian
Gray, Jessica King and Elizabeth Soutendijk have planned a fun hour of thematic
stories, crafts, and entertainment. Story Time Hour is designed for young
readers and home-schooled students; however anyone who wants to hear a great

of the Library
Friends of the Quitman Public
Library will meet Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at noon in the Shamburger Community
Room. The Friends invite the public to
join in the Christmas Spirt as the Quitman Elementary Choir, under the
direction of Katrina Morrow, perform a holiday presentation. Refreshments will be served.
Genealogy
The Wood County TX Genealogical
Society will meet on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 7 p.m. in the library’s
Shamburger Community Room. Officers for FY15 are Shirley Bates, president;
Karen Pilgrim, vice president; Mary Ann Niswanger, treasurer; Ronnie Vance,
