  Stop by the Quitman Public Library for treats on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 3 – 5 p.m. during the Quitman Chamber of Commerce Halloween Candy Walk!
  National Family History Month is observed during October, and the library along with the Wood County TX Genealogical Society invite family researchers, historians and storytellers, to commemorate their family’s rich and deep history this month by allowing us to assist with beginning your genealogical tree. The society will meet on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room.   The 2nd Friday Acoustical Jam is Friday, Nov. 8 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the library’s community room. Musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in. There will be an open mic set-up for those who wish to perform. Listeners are always welcome. For more information, call Eugene Allen at 903-975-5745.

Adult Services
  Jim Kinsel from Workforce Solutions of East Texas will be at the library on Friday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. to assist job seekers. No appointment is necessary.
  Online GED test preparatory registration and course assistance is available on Tuesdays (language arts) and Fridays (mathematics) from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Visit www.ged.com to create your account.
  Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main lobby. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for free instruction.
 
Children’s Services
  QPL Story Time is every Wednesday at 2 p.m. On Oct. 30, we’re having a “Halloween Party!” with games, snacks, music, and a costume contest. For more information, contact Terri Bennett at 903-763-4191. 

Friends of the Library
  The Friends of the Quitman Public Library will meet on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. Special guest will be a book sculptor who creates art from the pages of books.
  You may sign up for the monthly Friends of the Quitman Public Library Newsletter or obtain more information about becoming a member by contacting Rebekah Yeager at 903-763-4191. Friends is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library.
