Quitman’s Sonic Drive-In and the library are partnering to celebrate the dog days of summer. Through Aug. 31, our youngest readers can check out any book about a dog and win a coupon for an ice cream cup.

The Friends of the QPL have rescheduled their Fabulous Fiction Book Sale for Sept. 1 – 4 starting at 10 a.m. each morning. Many of these fiction books are new and one-of-a-kind.

On Tuesday, Sep. 1, beginning at 10 a.m., the public is invited to visit Senior Life Solutions representatives in the lobby of the Quitman Public Library from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Senior Life Solutions is all about flexible mental health treatment for older adults who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, or just trouble coping with life in general. Please call (903) 763-6064 for more information.

Tutoring is available each Wednesday at 4 p.m. Whether you are studying for a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or just brushing up on your math skills, it is easier when you have a professional tutor who can guide you through the process. The QPL Knitting & Crochet Club meets each Thursday from 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s lobby. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and enjoy free instruction and pattern exchange.

Wood County Metal Detector Club is all about metal detecting and historical research here in Wood and surrounding counties. If you are interested in digging for treasure, join the meeting on first Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room.

Whyte Dove Writers’ Club meets monthly on second Tuesdays from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the library. Consider joining this distinctive group of local published authors.

Looking for a place to hold your next meeting or event? The library offers a spacious community room with the latest technological needs as well as a kitchenette. For information, contact the front desk at (903)763-4191.
