September 2016 Quitman Public Library Connections

Welcome back, Friends of the Quitman Public Library! We’re looking forward to an exciting season for 2016-2017. New FOL officers for FY2017 are as follows:  Diane Moseley – President, Cathy Dye – Vice President, Lillian Gray – Secretary, Kim Watterson – Treasurer.
Lots of exciting things have happened since we last met in May, and rather than list it all here, I will present a short slide show at our meeting on September 6th at noon. Just bring yourself and a friend, because the Quitman Public Library and Brookshire’s – Quitman will sponsor refreshments.
At the end of May 2016, Kim Watterson reported the FOL balance as $2860.16, which is really good. This time of year, we have a fundraiser that is usually a book sale and bake sale – or we can plan another type of fundraiser. Last year, the quilt raffle did very well.  New fundraising ideas are always welcome!
Author, Ann Norris, is lined up for our October 11th meeting to talk about her new book, “Voices From Beyond.” Ann and her husband, Jeff, live right here in Quitman.
As always, I thank the Friends of the Library for its generous support of the Quitman Public Library.

Delene H. Allen, Library Director
