The Quitman Public Library will present “Spooky Stories around the
Campfire” on Monday, October 31, 2016 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at Gov. Jim Hogg City
Park. The public is invited to gather
around the library’s fire pit to share spine-chilling stories. Other exciting events and contests are
scheduled.

Get GED Ready@ Quitman Public Library each
Thursday from 4 – 6 p.m. Class is taught
by certified instructor, Susan Resnik. Study
at your own pace. Stop by or call 903-763-4191. The library is also a
registered test site for distance learners taking courses that require a
proctor.
Knitting and crochet
instructor, Virginia Hoffpauir, invites everyone to bring his or her own
supplies and join her group this fall for a fun time of free instruction. Stop by the library’s main gallery each

Genealogy
The Wood County Genealogical Society meets
Monday, November 21, 2016 at 7 p.m. in the library’s community room. Members

Services
The
Story Time Gang meets each Thursday at 2 p.m. Lillian Gray plans an educational hour filled
with stories, crafts and plenty of fun. Upcoming weekly themes: October 20th
– bugs and insects, October 27th – It’s a Halloween Party!, November
3rd – Lewis & Clark with Sacajawea. Story Time is designed for young readers and
home-schooled students; however anyone who wants to hear a great story is

of the Library
Friends
of the Library will hold an informal gathering at The Texas Tea Room on
Tuesday, November 8, 2016. The group
will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, December 13th, 2016
at noon when the Quitman Elementary Choir will sing Christmas carols in the
library’s Thurman Shamburger Community Room.
The public is always welcome.
On Display
In the lobby showcase is a display honoring the Quitman Volunteer Fire
Department designed by Beverly Chamberlain.
