The 2nd Friday Acoustical Jam is Friday,
Oct. 11, 2019. Musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in
from 6 – 9 p.m. in the library’s community room. There will be an open mic
set-up for those who wish to perform. Listeners are always welcome. For more

National Family History Month is observed in
October. The Quitman Public Library along with the Wood County TX Genealogical
Society invite family researchers, historians and storytellers, to commemorate
their family’s rich and deep history this month by allowing us to assist with
beginning your genealogical tree. The society will meet on Monday, October 21,
at 7 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room. For more information,

Adult Services
Jim Kinsel from Workforce Solutions of East
Texas will be at the library on 1st Fridays of each month from 10
a.m. – 1 p.m. to assist job seekers. No appointment is necessary.
Online GED test
preparatory registration and course assistance is available on Tuesdays
(language arts) and Fridays (mathematics) from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Knitting and crochet instruction class meets
each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery. Students of all ages
and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for this free
instruction.
Children’s Services
QPL Story Time is every Wednesday at 2 p.m. Upcoming
themes: Oct. 16 “Eating Healthy” making our own snack mix; Oct. 23 “Pumpkins!”;
Oct. 30 “Halloween Party!” with games, snacks, music, and a costume contest. For more information, contact Terri

Friends of the Library
The
Friends of the Quitman Public Library will meet on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. Special
guest will be a book sculptor who creates art from the pages of books.

volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library.

In the lobby display is a collection of mementos
on loan from the Gladys Zapata and the Peralta Family in commemoration of Hispanic
