Story Time - Favorite Books
On Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 2 p.m.. Story Time is All About Our Favorite Books! Lillian Gray is going to read whatever books we choose. Then, she's going to open the big craft box and let us make anything we like, too! Oh, wow!!

Due to a shortage of AARP Tax Aide Program volunteers
in Wood County, there will be no free Federal Income Tax assistance at the
Quitman Public Library this tax season. The AARP Tax Aide office can help you
locate your nearest free tax preparation site by calling 1-888-227-7669. The
library will only receive printed 2016 Forms 1040, 1040 A, and 1040 EZ. Also,
public computers are available at the library for patrons to file online during
regular business hours. Public Wi-Fi is available 24/7.
January is “Get
Healthy, Stay Healthy” month. If you
have resolved to exercise, diet, or just be a better person, the library has
the information and books you need to be successful. This special display is located near the
check-out area.
Patron cards are for Wood County residents
with photo identification. A guardian
must sign for children ages 5-17. Regular hours are Tuesday through Friday from
10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Call

QPL! Stop by or call 903-763-4191. The General Educational Development (GED) preparatory
class meets at the Quitman Public Library each Thursday from 4:30 – 6 p.m. and
is taught by certified instructor, Susan Resnik. All materials are free.
Knitting and crochet instruction class meets
each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery. Students of all ages
and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for this free
class.

The Story Time Gang meets each Thursday at 2
p.m. Lillian Gray plans an educational
hour filled with stories, crafts and plenty of fun. Upcoming themes are: Jan 19th
“All About Reading Our Favorites!” Jan 26th “All About a Crafting
Free-for-all,” and February is going to be “All About African American History
Month.” Be ready to read, dance, sing, play games and make stuff.

Friends of the
Library
Friends of the Quitman Public Library meet
Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at noon in the Shamburger Community Room. The Friends invite everyone to bring a lunch
and join them for an hour of friendship. There will be a short meeting that
always includes a “5-Minute No Spoiler Book Review,” a short presentation of “What
You May Not Know about Me” from one of the members, and entertainment provided
by a special guest.
The Friends of the Quitman Public Library is
an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the
library.
Genealogy
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society will
meet in the library’s Shamburger Community Room on Monday, February 13, 2017.
The workshop begins at 6 p.m. prior to the 7 p.m. meeting. For more information
