The Quitman Public Library is open and
providing public service in accordance with current State guidelines. Social
distancing and wearing protective masks are strongly encouraged. All patron
areas are regularly disinfected with industrial grade sanitizer.
Many library programs are slowly and
carefully returning, but State mandated maximum capacity guidelines are being
enforced. Our children’s program coordinator has announced that the 2020 Summer
Reading program is still planned for June, but activities have been modified
for outdoors at Gov. Jim Hogg City Park. A schedule will be announced soon.
Knitting and crochet instruction class meets
each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room, and it will meet
throughout the summer. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their
own supplies and join the group for this free instruction.
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society will
have volunteers on hand throughout the summer to assist you with your family
history research. Call 903-763-4191 to schedule an appointment or contact a
member through the society’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.
Patron cards are available for those who
provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian
must sign for children ages 5 – 17. Hours
are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Keep current at www.facebook.com/quitmanpubliclibrary and visit the library’s website
at www.quitmanlibrary.org. Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Download the
OverDrive® app to connect to our library’s vast collection of eBooks,
audiobooks and streaming video.
