The Quitman Public Library is celebrating Spring 2023 with displays near the front checkout desk as well as the Children's Department. Also, the library received a generous donation of Large Print books given in loving memory of Cynthia Langford Chandler. These books will be available for check out this week.
360° Painting of Tyler will be completing the exterior painting of the library building as weather permits. Funding provided by The Quitman Public Library Memorial Fund, Quitman Economic Development Corporation, City of Quitman, along with a charitable donation graciously provided by Michelle Davidson, owner of 360° Painting of Tyler.
Friends of the Quitman Public Library has changed its meeting dates to 2nd Thursdays at noon. The next meeting will be Tues., April 13, 2023. On the agenda are plans for the FOL Spring Book Sale scheduled for May 2 – 5, 2023, and a short presentation about British author, Agatha Christie. Friends is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the Quitman Public Library.
The Quitman Garden Club provides an amazing service keeping the library patios looking so beautiful! Most of the plants are native to Texas and many are in bloom. The club meets at 2 p.m. on the second Tues. of each month (except July and Aug.) at the library. Contact Jean Fox for more information (903) 763-8353.
Adult GED® exam support service is available at the Quitman Public Library. The program is online, and students can register at www.ged.com. There is a monthly subscription on that website that must be paid for by each student to access the preparatory study questions. Certified instructors are available at the library to offer guidance.
Knitting and crochet instruction class is each Thurs. from 2 – 4 p.m. in the lobby. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join this fun group for free instruction and pattern exchange.

Writers’ Group meets the second Tues. of each month from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the
library. Consider joining this impressive group of local published authors that
include founder Kathleen Young, Terrell and Lynn AronSpeer, Ann Norris,
Patricia Simpson, Dan Zenor, Jack A. Goodner, Anne-Christine Hoff, Stephen D.
Griffitts, Gary Stevens, and Janice Foley.

Wood County Metal Detector Club is all about metal detecting and historical research here in Wood and surrounding counties. If you are interested in digging in the dirt and finding things, join in the meeting on the first Mon. of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Quitman Public Library.
The In-Focus Photography Club of East Texas meets on the last Mon. of each month in the library’s community room. Join the club and network with other photographers, share ideas, and participate in photography-related contests and events. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the 6:30 p.m. meeting and workshop.
