Due to the unexpected closure of Baker & Taylor, access to the Boundless® eBook app ended abruptly on Dec. 15, 2025. Meanwhile, please continue to enjoy Quitman Public Library’s eBook platform, Libby®, powered by OverDrive and the Northeast Texas Digital Consortium. The library will close on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, at noon for the Christmas holidays, and normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, Dec. 30. The library will close at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 31 for New Year's Eve, and will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, for New Year’s Day. After that, we will return to regular hours.

 


QPL Knitting & Crochet Class will take a holiday break and will return to regular meetings on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026. The class regularly meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. at the library. Students of all ages and skill levels are invited to join this growing group. Classes are free.

 


The next meeting of the Friends of the Library will be Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at noon. The Friends now meet quarterly in the library’s Shamburger Community Room on the 2nd Thursday of February, May, September, and December.

 

The Wood County TX Genealogical Society will return to regular meetings in January. The society meets on 3rd Mondays at 5:30 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room.

 


The Quitman Bridge Club regularly meets at the library on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. David Worrall, an expert Bridge player and instructor, invites players of all levels to play. Contact him at 903-780-1040 to learn more about this fascinating card game.

 

The public is invited to join the Wood County Metal Detecting Club on first Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Thurman Shamburger Community Room.

 


Board Games for Teens group meets every other Friday from 1 – 4 p.m. in the library’s community room. Bring board games and snacks to share. This group is organized by Homeschoolers – Wood County, Texas and is designed for teens ages 13 – 19. Call 903-763-4191 to confirm game days.



Notary service is available at the library during regular business hours. Walk-ins are welcome, but to guarantee an appointment, call 903-763-4191.

Patron cards are available at no cost for those who provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian must sign for children ages 5 – 17.
