On Display
In the lobby showcase during the month of May is a display of carvings by Susanne Jacobs, Master Wood Carver. Suzanne, who has been carving almost 20 years, began as a “self-taught” carver then studied under the tutelage of German Master Carver, Ludwig Keininger. Her award-winning carvings are in the traditional European method with mallet and chisels. Most of the pieces displayed are not for sale, but Suzanne does accept commissions.

Friends of the Library Newsletter - Director's Note for May 2011
The Quitman Public Library welcomes Stephanie Felty who joined the staff in April as a part-time employee. Stephanie has volunteered for several months, and has been a perfect fit -- especially with the children’s department. She says, “I am so excited to be able to work with the youngest members of our library in hopes of nourishing our newest library lovers of tomorrow.”
This summer, the library’s reading program will be “Dig up a Good Book @ the Quitman Public Library.” Stephanie Felty has organized the program schedule, details and activities for our youngest readers. The program will run June 1st through July 31st with special entertainment scheduled for each Friday in July.
Volunteers from the Quitman Garden Club have been working in the library’s patio areas as part of the Community Beautification Project. Please join the library in letting the club know how much we appreciate what they are doing. If you would like to join the Quitman Garden Club, contact Becky Watts 903-967-2270
