Mark your calendars for Friday, July 1st for the Summer Reading Kick-off Party. There is still time to sign up for “Dig up a Good Book @ the Quitman Public Library,” which runs through July 29th, 2011. The program is designed for babies through 6th grade. Stop in for your registration packet with a full schedule of summer activities.
A display of media filled with light summer reading and ideas for summer travel, picnics, sports, and family activities is located near the front check-out area.
Library cards are available for those residents who can provide proof of residence in Wood County and photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.
Regular library hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library elected the following officers to serve for 2012: Teresa Meeks - President, Tony Ragsdale - Vice President and Program Chair, Diane Moseley - Secretary, Helen Heavey - Treasurer, Jean Fox - Hospitality Chair. The Friends will reconvene September 6, 2011.

Genealogy
The Wood County Texas Genealogical Society has elected the following officers for 2012: Ronnie Vance - President, Deason Hunt - Vice President, Shirley Patrick - Secretary, Wayne McCluney - Treasurer.
The Society will remain active throughout the summer with “How-To” classes covering basic computer use and beginning genealogy research. Current events are posted on the website at http://www.woodtxgene.com.

Advisory Board
The Quitman Public Library Advisory Board will meet Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the library’s main gallery. The public is always welcome to attend advisory board meetings.
