To begin the New Year right, the Quitman Public Library has updated all patron computers and has added two new stations. The library’s high-speed Internet is maintained and provided by Peoples Telephone; computer upgrades are made possible by Bobby Gray, owner of Hog Computer.

January is National “Get Organized” Month, and the Quitman Public Library has a media display filled with ideas to help you clear, or at least control, clutter for the New Year. If your resolution is to exercise, diet, or just be a better person, the library is the place to find the information and books you need to be successful. This special display is located near the check-out area.

Advisory Board

The Quitman Public Library Advisory Board will meet Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room. Among the items on the agenda will be updating the library’s media policy. The public is always welcome to attend advisory board meetings.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Quitman Public Library is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library. They invite others to get involved by joining them at their next meeting at noon on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 for an hour of Valentine’s Day entertainment.

Genealogy

The society will meet on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Shamburger Community room at the Quitman Public Library. Anyone is welcome to join society members for their “pre-meeting” social at one of the area’s local restaurants. That information is always posted at their web blog: http://www.woodtxgene.com.

On Display

In the lobby showcase during the month of January is a collection of snowman figurines on loan from Martha Fregia who has been collecting snowman memorabilia for nearly 20 years.
