March 2014 - Quitman Public
Library News

Also on that day,
local artist, Bart Soutendijk, will
present his newest sculpture to the Quitman Public Library. Bart wall sculpture will be displayed on our front
tower as pictured. Bart has illustrated
with wire since 1972, and his art is represented by galleries in the US, and
and he has sold to collectors all over the world. Visit his website at http://www.wirewallart.com.

Our GED, ESL and
Bilingual Family Literacy programs are gaining momentum. Instructors Sandra Grider and Owen Neace are working with the Gateway to Libraries project that
provides all classroom materials. To learn more about these free opportunities, call 903-763-4191 or stop by the library on Thursdays.
The Wood County
Genealogical Society is inviting everyone to their meeting Monday, March
17, 2014 at 7 p.m. here at the library.
Special guest, Bobby J. Phipps,
will be speaking on “How Genetics Affect Our Family History.” Bobby holds a
Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.
Also at that meeting, the public can learn more about the society’s Family History Field Trip to Jefferson,
Texas planned for April.
Our patrons are excited about OverDrive® -- our library’s online source for the latest eBooks!
People stop me everywhere, most recently in the dentist’s chair, to ask me
about OverDrive! If you have a library card you can check out up to 5 of the
newest eBooks for 1 or 2 weeks to read on your computer, download to your smart
phone, and download to your reading device such as the Nook® or Kindle®. Stop
by or call, and I’ll help you get started.
