  January is “Get Healthy, Stay Healthy” month.  If you have resolved to exercise, diet, or just be a better person, the library has the information and books you need to be successful. 
  There will be no free Federal Income Tax assistance at the Quitman Public Library this tax season. The AARP Tax Aide office can help you locate your nearest free tax preparation site by calling 1-888-227-7669. The library will have printed 2018 Forms 1040, 1040 A, and 1040 EZ. Also, public computers are available at the library for patrons to file online during regular business hours. Public Wi-Fi is available 24/7.
  The 2nd Friday Acoustic Jam at the Quitman Public Library on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 from 6 – 9 p.m. Musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in with acoustical instruments only. Beginners are welcome to come early to workshop at 5 p.m. Listeners are always welcome at this free event. Contact Eugene Allen at 903-975-5745.

  Patron cards are available for those who provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian must sign for children ages 5 - 17.  Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Keep current at www.facebook.com/quitmanpubliclibrary and visit the library’s website at www.quitmanlibrary.org.
                               

Adult Services
  Rebekah Yeager and Virginia Hoffpauir invite students of all ages and skill levels to bring their own supplies and join the group for free crochet and knitting instruction each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery.
  Adult GED support services with assistance provided by State-certified instructor is offered each Thursday, 4 – 6 p.m. in the library’s public computer area.


Children’s Services
  Story Time meets each Wednesday at 2 p.m.  Lillian Gray plans an educational hour filled with stories, crafts and plenty of fun. Upcoming events: Jan. 16 – It’s Wet and Cold!; Jan. 23 – Snowman – What’s His Story?; Jan. 30 – Fun Day with Hot Cocoa and a Movie!; Feb. 6 – Why We Have America?
  Story Time is designed for young readers and home-schooled students, but anyone who wants to hear a great story is welcome. Call 903-763-BOOK (2665).

Friends of the Library
  The Friends of the Quitman Public Library invites everyone to its next meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 at noon in the Thurman Shamburger Community Room. The Friends is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library.


Genealogy

On Display
  In the lobby showcase is a collection of hobby crafts and books to commemorate January as National Hobby Month. The items are on loan from Beverly Chamberlain.
