The Quitman Public Library is one of the city’s warmest gathering places during the holidays.  From now until Christmas, stop by and have a cup of warm spiced cider while you browse our nearly 30,000 items available for check out.  Near the front desk is a seasonal display filled with media pertaining to holiday decorating, entertaining, crafts, recipes, and Christmas movies for all ages. 
 The 2nd Friday Acoustical Music Circle is always on the second Friday of the month at the Quitman Public Library.  The next acoustical jam is Friday, December 12, 6 - 9 p.m.  Acoustic musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in, and listeners are always welcome.  Refreshments will be available. In observance of the Christmas Holiday, the library will be closed Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26, 2014.  However, TexShare® Databases and OverDrive® services as well as Wi-Fi are always available 24/7.
Patron cards are for those who can provide proof of residence in Wood County with  photo identification.  A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.  Regular hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.  Call 903-763-4191 or visit our website at www.quitmanlibrary.org.

Adult Services
GED® or General Educational Development preparatory class meets at the Quitman Public Library each Thursday from 4:30 – 6 p.m. and is taught by a certified instructor.  The class schedule runs concurrently with the holiday schedule for Quitman I.S.D.  Students are taught independently according to a individually designed study plan, and all materials are free.  Sign up at the library’s front desk, or call 903-589-6900 for more information.

Advisory Board
The Library Advisory Board will hold its next meeting on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 6 p.m. The public is always welcome.

Children’s Services
Story Time Hour is each Wednesday 2 - 3 p.m. and runs concurrently with the Quitman I.S.D. calendar. Nichole Bradberry, Lillian Gray, Jessica King and Elizabeth Soutendijk have planned a fun hour of thematic stories, crafts, and entertainment. Story Time Hour is designed for young readers and home-schooled students; however anyone who wants to hear a great story is welcome.  For more information, call 903-763-BOOK (2665).

Friends of the Library
Friends of the Quitman Public Library will meet Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at noon in the Shamburger Community Room.  The Friends invite everyone to bring your own lunch and join them for an hour of entertainment.

Genealogy
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society will meet on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 7 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room. Officers for FY15 are Shirley Bates, president; Karen Pilgrim, vice president; Mary Ann Niswanger, treasurer; Ronnie Vance, secretary.
