Quitman Public Library staff and volunteers
would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year 2019! The library will be closed Tuesday,
Jan. 1, 2019 for New Year’s Day.
This month, the library will highlight the
new year with a display of self-help books selected by Melissa Frosch and
Jessica King. Look for the “New Beginning” display near the front checkout
desk.
If you got a new guitar for Christmas, bring it
on out to the 2nd Friday Acoustic Jam at the Quitman Public Library
on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 from 6 – 9 p.m. Musicians of all ages and musical levels
are invited to join in with acoustical instruments only. Beginners are welcome
to come early to workshop at 5 p.m. Listeners are always welcome at this free

Patron cards are available for those who
provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian
must sign for children ages 5 - 17. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from

Adult
Services
Knitting and Crochet class will resume on Thursday, Jan. 3,
2019. Rebekah
Yeager and Virginia Hoffpauir invite
students of all ages and skill levels to bring their own supplies and join the
group for free instruction each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s
main gallery.
Adult GED support services will resume on
Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019. Assistance from a State certified instructor is offered
each Thursday, 4 – 6 p.m. in the library’s public computer area.
Children’s Services
Story Time meets each Wednesday at 2 p.m. Lillian Gray plans an educational hour filled
with stories, crafts and plenty of fun. Upcoming events: Jan. 2 – Snow Globes;
Jan. 9 – Who Sleeps During the Winter?; Jan. 16 – It’s Wet and Cold!; Jan. 23 –
Snowman – What’s His Story?; Jan. 30 – Fun Day with Hot Cocoa and a Movie!
Story Time is designed for young readers and
home-schooled students, but anyone who wants to hear a great story is welcome.

of the Library
The
Friends of the Quitman Public Library invites everyone to its next meeting on
Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 at noon in the Thurman Shamburger Community Room. The
Friends is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and
improvement of the library.
