Don’t
miss a special Christmas Story Time this Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018. Beginning at 2 p.m., Elvis (instead of Santa)
will perform and he will hand out scarves and teddy bears to the kids! Everyone
is welcome regardless of age. Pizza will be served, but feel free to bring
another one!
Quitman Public Library staff and volunteers
would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! The library will be closed Monday,
Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018 for the Christmas holiday.
The 2nd Friday Acoustic Jam is
Friday, Jan 11, 2019 from 6 – 9 p.m. Musicians of all ages and musical levels
are invited to join in with acoustical instruments only. Listeners are always
welcome at this free event. Contact Eugene Allen at 903-975-5745.
Patron cards are available for those who
provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian
must sign for children ages 5 - 17. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from

Adult
Services
Knitting and Crochet class will resume on Thursday, Jan. 3,
2019. Rebekah
Yeager and Virginia Hoffpauir invite
students of all ages and skill levels to bring their own supplies and join the
group for free instruction each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s
main gallery.
Adult GED support services will resume on
Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019. Assistance from a State certified instructor is offered
each Thursday, 4 – 6 p.m. in the library’s public computer area.
Children’s Services
Story Time meets each Wednesday at 2 p.m. Lillian Gray plans an educational hour filled
with stories, crafts and plenty of fun. Upcoming events: Dec. 19 – Christmas Party
with Elvis!; Dec. 26 – Holiday Break (no Story Time); Jan. 2 – Snow Globes;
Jan. 9 – Who Sleeps During the Winter?; Jan. 16 – It’s Wet and Cold!; Jan. 23 –
Snowman – What’s His Story?; Jan. 30 – Fun Day with Hot Cocoa and a Movie!
Story Time is designed for young readers and
home-schooled students, but anyone who wants to hear a great story is welcome.

Friends
of the Library
The
Friends of the Quitman Public Library invites everyone to its next meeting on Tuesday,
Jan. 8, 2019 at noon in the Thurman Shamburger Community Room. The Friends is
an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the
library.

There
will be no meeting of the Wood County TX Genealogical Society until after the Christmas
