The QPL Story Time Christmas Pajama Party is
Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the library’s community room. Kids can
wear their jammies, bring a pillow and blanket, and enjoy cocoa, popcorn and a
holiday movie! QPL Story Time will be back from holiday break on Wednesday,
Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. The program is designed for preschoolers and home-schooled
students. Special thanks go to Peoples Communications – Quitman for sponsoring

A holiday collection of books for pleasure
reading, movies with a holiday theme, and books with recipe and decorating
ideas to make Christmas extra special are displayed near the check-out desk. Check

The Wood County TX
Genealogical Society invites researchers to commemorate their family’s rich and
deep history this holiday season. The society has workshops on the third Monday
of each month at 7 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room. For more information,

Knitting and crochet instruction
class meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main lobby. Students of
all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for
free instruction.
Start
off your new year with the right job. Jim Kinsel from Workforce Solutions of
East Texas will be at the library on Friday, Jan. 3 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. to
assist job seekers. No appointment is necessary. If you are ready to earn your GED, test
preparatory course assistance is available on Tuesdays (language arts) and
Fridays (mathematics) from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Visit www.ged.com to create your online
account.
The public is invited to attend the Friends
of the Quitman Public Library meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020. Special guest
will be local author Joe Boyd who will discuss her newest book “A Spiritual
Awakening: Volume II.” You may sign up for the monthly emailed Friends of
the Quitman Public Library Newsletter by contacting Rebekah Yeager at 903-763-4191.
Friends is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and
improvement of the library and welcomes new members throughout the year.
The 2nd
Friday Acoustical Jam is Friday, Jan. 10 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the library’s community
room. Musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in. There is
an open mic set-up for those who wish to perform. Listeners are always welcome.
