   QPL Story Time meets each Wednesday at 2 p.m.  Terri Bennett plans an educational hour filled with stories, crafts and plenty of fun. The Story Times for Jan. 2020 will be about “Show and Tell,” so bring something awesome to share! The program is designed for young readers and home-schooled students. Call 903-763-BOOK (2665). Special thanks to Peoples Telephone for funding and sponsorship of this year’s crafts and activities.

   The 2nd Friday Acoustic Jam is Friday, Feb. 14, 2020 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room. It will be a special night dedicated to romantic music and love songs with treats provided by the Friends of the Library. Musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in with acoustical instruments only. Beginners are welcome to come early to workshop at 5 p.m. Listeners are always welcome at this free event. Contact Eugene Allen at 903-975-5745.

   Friends of the Quitman Public Library invites everyone to its next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at noon in the Shamburger Community Room. Special guest will be local author and columnist, John Moore, who will discuss his writing.  Friends is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library.

   Wood County TX Genealogical Society meets at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020. The group meets at one of the local restaurants for fellowship prior to the meeting, and anyone is welcome to attend. Contact David Gilbreath at 972-977-7988 for details.

   Rebekah Yeager and Virginia Hoffpauir invite students of all ages and skill levels to bring their own supplies and join the Quitman Knitter’s Group for free instruction each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s front lobby area.
   Adult GED support services are available for students who have registered online at www.ged.com. Assistance in reading/writing skills and math is available in the public computer area on Tuesdays and Fridays during library hours.
   In the lobby showcase during the month of January is a display titled "Examine Nature with Amy Yeager." Amy shares her detailed illustrations of fish, insects, and birds. Visit her website at tusgart.com or follow her on Instagram a@tusg.art

   Patron cards are available for those who provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian must sign for children ages 5 – 17.
