To celebrate the Christmas holiday, the Quitman Public Library will be closing at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, and will be closed all day on Friday, Dec. 23, 2022
The library
commemorates holiday events throughout the year and highlights each with
displays of books, movies, and audiobooks. Near the checkout area is a display
arranged by the QPL staff to help you plan for the upcoming new year. Stop by
and check it out.
After a
holiday break, the knitting and crochet
instruction class will resume on Thursday, Jan.5, 2023 from 2 – 4 p.m. in the lobby.
Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the
group for free instruction.
ETX Underground is all about metal detecting
and historical research here in Wood and surrounding counties. If you are
interested in digging in the dirt and finding stuff, then come to the club's
first meeting on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at the Quitman Public
Library. If you have a metal detector, bring it with you.
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society invites family researchers and historians to meet on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the library. Contact Shirley Patrick (903) 312-8451for meeting confirmation and follow the society’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.
The In-Focus Photography Club of East Texas meets every 4th Monday in the library’s community room. Join the club for the new year on January 23, 2023. Visit with other photographers, share ideas, and participate in photography-related contests and events. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the 6:30 p.m. meeting and workshop.
If you need to earn a GED, now is a great time to start. Adult GED support services are available at the Quitman Public Library. The program is online, and you can register at www.ged.com. Certified instructors are available on Wednesdays beginning at noon to assist GED students with reading/writing skills and math.
