Quitman Public Library Notes by

If you have any board games or
outdoor lawn games just sitting around collecting dust, please consider
donating them to the Quitman Public Library at 202 East Goode Street, Quitman. Our summer reading theme is “Get Your Game on
@ the Quitman Public Library,” and we hope to have plenty of games for everyone
to play. There are plans to have a
regular game night this fall in the library’s community room.
Mark your calendar for Friday Night
Bluegrass Acoustical Jam Fever on Friday, June 14, from 6 – 9 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. for those who want to
tune up or practice. Acoustical
musicians of all ages and skill levels are welcome, and listeners are welcome
too. Refreshments are available, but feel free to bring anything you like. For more information, call 903-952-8305 or

Library hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6
p.m.
Adult Services
GED classes conclude for the year this
Wednesday, May 22, 2013. English as a
Second Language (ESL) classes will hold their last class of the year this
Thursday, May 23, 2013. To learn more
about these classes or to sign up for Fall classes, call the library.
Knitting and crochet instruction is
offered by Virginia Hoffpauir in the library’s main gallery each Thursday, 2:00
– 4:00 p.m. Bring your own supplies and
join the group for a fun time of free instruction.
Young Adult and
Children’s Services
Story Time
will meet Friday, May 24th at 11 a.m. Story Time runs concurrently with the
Q.I.S.D. calendar, and will suspend for the summer beginning in June.
Advisory Board
The Quitman Public Library
Advisory Board will meet Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 6 p.m. in the Shamburger
Community Room. The public is always
welcome to attend advisory board meetings.
Friends of the
Library
The Friends of the Quitman
Public Library has concluded its 2013
season and will resume activities this fall.
Friends of the Library is an active group of volunteers dedicated to the
growth and improvement of the library.
The public is always invited to bring a lunch and spend an hour with
people who really love their library. For more information about this group, contact
the library.
Genealogy
The Wood County Genealogical Society has
concluded its 2013 season. Please visit
the society’s website at http://www.woodtxgene.com for current
events.
Ancestry.com is
now available at no charge for library patron. This subscription is provided by
a generous gift from members of the Wood County Genealogical Society.
New
Arrivals
The library has
received a large shipment of new children’s books. There are too many to list here, so visit our
