Library Notes by Delene Allen - March 2014

Each Thursday is filled with learning opportunities at the Quitman Public Library. GED preparatory classes are available from 10 – noon to help you prepare for the GED test.
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are also offered on Thursdays from 4 – 6 p.m. in the library’s conference room.  These classes run concurrently with the Q.I.S.D. holiday schedule.  ESL and GED classes are taught by certified instructor, Sandra Grider.
Family Bilingual Literacy Sessions are available from 1 – 3 p.m. and are taught by Gateway to Libraries Instructor, Owen Neace. The focus is to teach parents to read to their children in a manner to insure that children understand what is being read to them.
Knitting and crochet instructor, Virginia Hoffpauir, invites students of all ages and skill levels to bring their own supplies and join the group for free knitting and crochet instruction. If you have a pattern to share, please bring it.  The class meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery.
Also on Thursdays, test proctoring and tutoring is available by appointment. To sign up for any of these opportunities, stop by during class hours or call 903-763-4191903-763-4191.
