Quitman Library Connections by Delene Allen

August 16, 2017 Wood County Monitor – Quitman TX

August is National Golf Month, so let your first swing be to swing by the Quitman Public Library to check out our collection of the best books on golf written by those who best know the game.
We still have a few eclipse viewing glasses, and the last day to pick those up will be Friday, August 18, 2017, before 6 p.m.
On display near the front desk is a reading collection presented by Melissa Frosch called “100 Books to Read Before You Die.” Among the titles in the collection are older standards like The Grapes of Wrath, Where the Red Fern Grows and Catch 22, as well as contemporary classics like Lonesome Dove, Outlander, and Watership Down.
It’s almost time for school, so the Quitman Public Library joins libraries across the country to remind parents that the most important school supply of all is @ your library® - it's your library card! Patron cards are available for those residents who can provide proof of residence in Wood County and photo identification.  A guardian must sign for children ages 5 - 17.
The 2nd Friday Acoustical Music Jam at the Quitman Public Library is Friday, September 8, 2017.   Acoustical musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in from 6 – 9 p.m. in the library’s community room. There will be an open mic set-up for those who wish to perform. Listeners are always welcome. For more information, call 903-975-5745.
Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Keep up with current events on at www.facebook.com/quitmanpubliclibrary and visit our website at www.quitmanlibrary.org for links to OverDrive and the TexShare Databases.

Rebekah Yeager and Virginia Hoffpauir invite students of all ages and skill levels to bring their own supplies and join the group for free knitting and crochet instruction each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery.
