Across the country gardeners are celebrating April
as National Gardening Month! On display
this month is a collection of books -- ranging from novice to expert -- to help
you grow your best garden ever! Many of
the books were selected by the Quitman Garden Club and purchased with funds
donated by club members. Stop in and check the display.
Mark your calendar for the 2nd Friday
Acoustical Music Jam on April 13 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the library’s Thurman
Shamburger Community Room. Doors open at 5 p.m. for those who want to tune up or
practice. Acoustical musicians of all
ages and skill levels are welcome, and listeners are welcome too. Refreshments
are available, but feel free to bring anything you like. For more information, call 903-975-5745.
If you have not filed your IRS return, there
is still time. The library has the forms you need and computers are available
during business hours. Wi-Fi is available 24/7.

Services
GED
preparatory class meets each Thursday from 4 – 6 p.m. Students are guided according to the Steck-Vaughn
method which is in alignment with the GED test. Sign up at the library’s front
desk, or call for more information.
Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in
the library’s main gallery. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring
their own supplies and join the group for this free instruction.

Services
It’s time for another QPL Story Time Drawing Contest! The theme is: “What
Does Kindness Mean to You?” Use any medium you wish, and submit drawings to
Lillian Gray at the library’s front desk by April 12 at 6 p.m. Prizes are
sponsored by Friends of the Quitman Public Library.
QPL Story Time is each Thursday at 2 p.m. and is designed for young
readers and home-schooled students; however, anyone who wants to hear a great
story is welcome. Upcoming themes: March 29 “What is a Dream Catcher?” – April 5
“Let’s Shoot for the Stars” – April 12 “Old McDonald’s Farm” – April 19 “Beyond
the Unimaginable!”
Friends
of the Library
The
Friends invite everyone to bring a lunch and join them at noon on Tuesday, April
10, for an hour of friendship. Lillian Gray will present “April: Child Abuse
Awareness Month.” Friends of the Quitman Public Library is an active group of
volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library.
Genealogy
The
Wood County TX Genealogical Society will meet on Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m. in
