The FOL Fall Book Sale begins Wednesday, Nov.
14 and runs through Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. The sale will take place during
library business hours from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. each day.
The 2nd Friday Acoustic Jam is
Friday, November 9 from 6 – 9 p.m. Musicians of all ages and musical levels are
invited to join in with acoustical instruments only. Listeners are always
welcome at this free event. Contact Eugene Allen at 903-975-5745.
The Quitman Public Library will be closed
Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Patron cards are available for those who
provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian
must sign for children ages 5 - 17. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from

Services
Rebekah Yeager and
Virginia Hoffpauir invite students of
all ages and skill levels to bring their own supplies and join the group for
free crochet and knitting instruction each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the
library’s main gallery.
Adult GED support services are offered each
Thursday, 4 – 6 p.m. in the library’s public computer area.
Children’s Services
Story Time meets each Wednesday at 2 p.m. Lillian Gray plans an educational hour filled
with stories, crafts and plenty of fun. Upcoming events: Nov. 7 – “It’s a Field Trip to the Pecan House!” meet up at 1225
W Loop 564 Mineola, TX; Nov. 4 – “Family Makes You Smile” Thanksgiving table
decorations for craft activity; Nov. 21 – No QPL Story Time; Nov. 28 – “Clap
Your Hands” with finger painting for craft activity.
Story Time is designed for young readers and
home-schooled students, but anyone who wants to hear a great story is welcome.

Friends
of the Library
The
Friends of the Quitman Public Library meet Tuesday, Nov. 13 at noon in the
Thurman Shamburger Community Room for an hour of fellowship and fun. This is an
active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the
library.
Genealogy
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society meets Monday, Nov. 19
at 7 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room. Guest speaker, Eugene
Allen, will present “The Bankhead Highway and Its Course Through Wood County,
Texas.” The society gathers for a pre-meeting social dinner at Peralta’s
Mexican Restaurant in Quitman at 6 p.m. and invites newcomers to fellowship.
