The 2nd Friday Acoustic Music Jam at the library
is beginning its 8th year this Friday, Mar. 8, 2019. Acoustical
musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in from 6 - 9 p.m.
There will be an open mic set-up for those who wish to perform. Listeners are
always welcome. You never know who will show up, so come on out! Call

Meet the Author on Tuesday, Mar. 12, 2019
from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Linda Brendle, author of Tatia's Tattoo and A
Long and Winding Road: A Caregiver's Tale of Life, Love, and Chaos, will be
meeting the public and signing books.
There will be no free Federal Income Tax
assistance at the Quitman Public Library this tax season, however, printed
Forms 1040, 1040 A, and 1040 EZ are available here. The AARP Tax Aide office at
1-888-227-7669 for the nearest free tax preparation site. Public computers,
with no time limits, are available at the library for patrons to file online
during regular business hours. Public Wi-Fi is available 24/7.
Patron cards are for Wood County residents
with photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17. Hours

Services
A representative from Workforce Solutions of
East Texas is at the Quitman Public Library each 1st Friday from 10
a.m. – 1 p.m. to assist job seekers. The next workshop is Friday, Mar. 1, 2019.
No appointment is necessary.
Virginia Hoffpauir and Rebekah Yeager invite you to free crochet and knitting
instruction each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery.
Adult General Educational Development (GED)
support services with assistance provided by State-certified instructor is
offered each Thursday, 4 – 6 p.m. in the library’s public computer area. It’s
always a great time to Get Your GED @ QPL!
Children’s Services
Story Time, designed for young readers and
home-schooled students, meets each Wednesday at 2 p.m. Lillian Gray plans an educational hour filled
with stories, crafts and plenty of fun. Upcoming events: Feb. 27 Talk About Bullies!; Mar. 6 – Wow!
Flowers!; Mar. 13 – Field Trip to Mineola Museum. Special thanks to Peoples
Telephone – Quitman TX for funding and sponsorship of this year’s crafts and
activities.
Friends of the Library
Friends of the Quitman Public Library meet
Tuesday, Mar. 12, 2019 at noon in the Shamburger Community Room. The Friends invite join them for an hour of
friendship including a short meeting that always includes a “5-Minute No
Spoiler Book Review,” a short presentation of “Show and Tell” from one of the
members. Special speaker is Ronnie Vance with the Wood County TX Genealogy
Society.
Friends of the Quitman Public Library is an
active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the
library.
