During the 118th Old Settler’s Reunion, volunteers from the Wood County TX Genealogical Society will be available to assist visitors with family history research at the Quitman Public Library on Thursday, Aug. 5, and Friday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. each day. Contact David Gilbreath at 972-977-7988 for an appointment, or just stop by the library at 202 East Goode Street in downtown Quitman. Follow the society’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.

July’s Money Camp wrapped up nicely with an awards party for those who participated. Special thanks to Peggy Lustig of Gateway to Libraries – Jacksonville TX for organizing this regional event that was sponsored for the Quitman Public Library by City National Bank - Quitman.

In August, the library will recognize Dog Days of Summer with a special children’s display highlighting dogs – man’s best friend. If a dog bookmarker is found in the book you check out, you will receive a prize!

Summer lunch snacks are available for children daily 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. until school begins and is sponsored by the Quitman Rotary Club.

The In-Focus Photography Club of East Texas meets every 4th Monday at the library at 5:30 p.m. Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and patterns to trade. Cancer Cysters and Breast Friends support group meets in the library’s community room on the last Tuesday of each month from 6 - 8 p.m. Call 903-850-3978 for more information.

Visit the library’s website at www.quitmanlibrary.org where you can find the TexShare database of reference resources and the latest eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming video on OverDrive.

Library cards are free to those who can provide proof of residence in Wood County and photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5 – 17. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Keep current at www.facebook.com/quitmanpubliclibrary.
