Quitman Public Library Connections by Delene Allen

  The Wood County Historical Commission will host “History of Caddo Indians in Wood County” on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Quitman Public Library, 202 East Goode Street. Presenters are Dr. T. Guderjen and M. Walters. The public is invited to this free event.


  The library will participate in the Quitman Chamber of Commerce Candy Walk on Friday, Oct. 29 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Friends of the Quitman Public Library are sponsoring the treats and will have a few special prizes!  


  Near the checkout area are displays of highlighting October with creepy fun reads about haunted places, vampires, black cats, and R.L Stein’s Goosebumps. There are also countless eBooks and movies on OverDrive and SimplyE. Call us or stop by if you need help setting up a digital account.



  The Annual FOL Book Sale, hosted by Friends of the Quitman Public Library, will be Nov. 2 – 5 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Friends regular meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, and you are invited to join this active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the Quitman Public Library.


  The Wood County TX Genealogical Society can assist with beginning your genealogical tree. The society will meet on Monday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room.   Photographers of all levels are invited to the In-Focus Photography Club of East Texas that meets every 4th Monday at the library beginning at 5:30 p.m. 


  Cancer Cysters and Breast Friends support group meets in the library’s community room on the last Tuesday of each month from 6 - 8 p.m. Call 903-850-3978 for more information.


  Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery and is taught by Rebekah Yeager and Virginia Hoffpauir. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring supplies and join the group for free instruction.



  Looking for a place to hold your event? The library offers a spacious community room with the latest technological needs as well as a kitchenette. For lease information, contact the front desk at 903-763-4191.
