  January is National “Get Organized” Month. Near the front desk is a media display of self-help books filled with ideas to help you clear, or at least control, the clutter for your new year. In the Children’s department, there is a display featuring our newest Young Adult mysteries.

 

  Friends of the Quitman Public Library meets 2nd Tuesday at noon in the library’s Shamburger Community Room. Officers for FY22 are Tonia Nix – president, Carley Tucker – vice-president, Susan Lomanto – secretary, and Rebekah Yeager – treasurer.

 

  Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main lobby. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for free instruction. Bring your patterns to swap with others. Masks and social distancing encouraged.

 

  The Wood County TX Genealogical Society meets each 3rd Monday at 7 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room. Contact David Gilbreath at 972-977-7988 for meeting confirmation and follow the society’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.

 

  Adult GED support services are available for students who have registered online at www.ged.com. Assistance in reading/writing skills and math is available in the public computer area on Wednesdays during library hours.

 

  In the lobby showcase during the month of January is a collection of vintage Christmas cards on loan from Rebekah Yeager.  

 

  Online services are available by visiting our website at www.quitmanlibrary.org to find the TexShare® database of reference resources and OverDrive® for the latest eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming video. Also, visit the library’s online catalog at http://quitman.biblionix.com/catalog to see our newest arrivals.  Library cards are available at no cost for those who can provide proof of residence in Wood County and photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5 – 17. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wi-Fi is available 24/7.
