  August is National Golf Month, so let your first swing be by the Quitman Public Library to check out our large collection of some of the best books and DVDs on golf.

  Jim Kinsel from Workforce Solutions of East Texas will be at the library on Friday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. to assist job seekers. No appointment is necessary.

  The 2^nd Friday Acoustical Jam is Friday, Aug. 9, 2019. Musicians of all ages and musical levels are invited to join in from 6 – 9 p.m. in the library’s community room. There will be an open mic set-up for those who wish to perform. Listeners are always welcome, and you never know when a well-known musician may surprise us with a visit.   Quitman Public Library joins libraries across the country to remind parents that the most important school supply of all is a library card! 

Patron cards are available for those residents who can provide proof of residence in Wood County and photo identification.  A guardian must sign for children ages 5 - 17.   Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. in the library’s main gallery. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for this free instruction.

This fun camp is sponsored by City National Bank, Wood County National Bank and Capital One as part of a regional literacy initiative of A Circle of 10, Inc.   QPL Summer Reading 2019 is happening the entire month of June, and we will discover “A Universe of Stories!” Fun activities are planned for each Wednesday, so stop by the library for your game card. Prizes will be awarded on June 26, so get that game card filled up!
