The Quitman Public Library is celebrating National Library Week, April 7-13, 2024. It is a time to honor our nation's libraries and library workers' contributions. This year’s theme, “Ready, Set, Library," illustrates the idea that in our always-online world, libraries give us a green light to something truly special: a place to connect with others, learn new skills, and focus on life-long learning.
QPL Friends of
the Library have a few eclipse glasses left at $1.50 each! Stop by during
business hours to get yours. Proceeds benefit library programs.
Looking for a place to hold your next meeting or event? The
library offers a spacious community room with the latest technological needs as
well as a kitchenette. For lease information, contact the front desk at (903)763-4191.
Special thanks extend to the Quitman Garden Club for keeping the library’s patios so beautifully maintained. Most of the plants are native to Texas. If you’d like to learn more about gardening, the club invites you to the next meeting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
Free knitting and crochet instruction class meets each
Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own
supplies and patterns to trade.
The Wood County Metal Detector Club, led by Jerry Tinney, meets on 1st Mondays at 6:30 p.m.
Whyte Dove Writers’ Club, a distinctive group of local published authors, meets monthly on second Tuesdays from 6 – 8:30 p.m.
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society meets each 3rd Monday at 5 p.m. in the library’s community room.
Notary service is generally available at the library during regular business hours, but to guarantee an appointment, call (903)763-2665. Notary fee is $10 per document.
