A Spring Book Sale is happening April 28 – May 1, 2026 at the Quitman Public Library and is hosted by the Friends of the Library.  We are still accepting donations during business hours: books, audiobooks, DVDs, puzzles, board games, computer games and software, music albums, tapes and CDs.  Regular hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 2 p.m. in the library’s community room, UT Health will present free information about its new outpatient program for mental health called Senior Life Solutions. The program is geared for those aged 65 and over.

The Wood County TX Genealogical Society invites family researchers and historians to meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the library’s Shamburger Community Room. The next meeting is May 18, 2026.

Whyte Dove Writers’ Club, a distinctive group of local published authors, meets monthly on second Tuesdays from 6 – 8:30 p.m. This workshop is free and open to the public.

Earning a General Educational Development (GED) certificate is easier when you have a professional tutor who can guide you through the process.  Contact Sara de la Rosa at saradelarosa@outlook.com, or stop by the library during class hours each Wednesday, 4 - 6 p.m.

QPL Knitting & Crochet Class regularly meets each Thursday 2 – 4 p.m. at the library. Students of all ages and skill levels are invited to join this growing group.

Wood County Metal Detector Club, led by Jerry Tinney, meets on 1st Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room.
